Sicilian Earthquake Charity LabelsSicilian Earthquake Charity Labels
In 1908, an earthquake destroyed Messina and killed over 100,000 people. These charity labels were made to raise funds for the many orphans left by the earthquake. They were made in sets of 11, and each set was printed in the currency of several different countries, except for Germany (which had two versions: one monochrome, one bicoloured).
